Appearances
Bridge Street
In 2012, Joe and I appeared on the program "Bridge Street," a popular live television show on WSYR TV-9 in Syracuse, New York. The picture on the left is from that show. This was my second time on the show, and Joe's first.
They asked us questions about the book project, my "pre-ography" and our dreams about spreading the "don't give up!" message. A couple of weeks after that, they sent a news crew to my house to record me playing my guitar. This was sort of like the "kickoff" to our adventure -- it was a lot of fun! |
Book Signings
Joe and I have also done a few book-signing appearances, where we usually sit and meet people. Once people find out about my project, I usually get bombarded with questions. I don't mind answering them at all; however, my favorite are from the people who know someone who has SMA or is ill. I feel like I am helping the most when I can offer advice to them. |
Author's Spotlight
In 2012, our friends at the CNY Arts Center in Fulton, New York were kind enough to ask us to appear in an on-stage presentation followed by a question and answer period and a book-signing. It was a wonderful experience; and we got to meet people from all over Central New York.
Because of the demand, everyone was not able to see us, so we are planning an encore presentation sometime in the near future. |
MDA Muscle Walk
In 2013 we participated in the MDA Muscle Walk in Liverpool, New York. This event was sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and we helped them to raise money to fight various muscular diseases.
The event was well-attended and we got to meet lots of people with lots of questions about Spinal Muscular Atrophy. I was glad to help all I could. My favorite part was the "muscle walk" itself, where people with muscular diseases walk around the mall area with their loved ones. |
Other Lectures and Book-Signings
Joe and I have appeared at various places in Central New York, talking about my life, the disease and our hopes for the future. On the left you see us posing for a picture at the Fulton Women's Club at a recent luncheon.
We have also lectured at Binghamton University for the Department of Neurology and for the Fulton Chapter of the Lion's club. We have plans to speak at other locations. To keep track of where I will be appearing, please check my calendar for updates. |
